The collection includes eight internationally popular, but less well-known fairy tales. The compilers have made exciting choices in comparison to the source material and have re-narrated a lot. The selection includes stories written by famous story collectors in their time, such as the Grimm brothers in Germany or Andrew and Nora Lang in Scotland.

Each story is both a mediator and the face of its time, carrying the narrator's contemporary spirit and ideals. Stories change, ideals come, and vice versa. fairy tales have had princesses waiting to be rescued in castle towers, but this book is full of fearless, sassy heroines rescuing princes, embarking on adventures, fighting giants, and climbing insurmountable mountains.

It is very important not to forget fairy tales, because they stimulate our imagination, shape our perceptions and expectations, and can make us see the world in a completely different way.
