10 frequently asked questions about Moonies
In this blog, we answer frequently asked questions about the Moonie humming toy, which is one of the most beloved products in Babyluv's product range.
Why is Moonie so popular?
Moonie is not just a cute toy, but a super smart baby sleep aid. Moonies are equipped with a smart module that combines a night lamp with different colors, pink noise sounds and a cry detector.
Do Moonies require batteries?
Moonie does not require batteries to operate, it can be charged via the USB cable included in the package. The module comes already charged and can be used right out of the box.
How long does Moonie work without charging?
A fully charged battery lasts up to 8 hours of continuos operation with the light and sound switched on.
What is the difference between the bear and bunny?
Both the bear and bunny are equipped with the same sensor and functionalities. The only difference is that one is a bunny 🐇 and the other is a bear. 🐻
What exactly does the cry detector do?
Moonie mutes itself after 60 minutes and automatically goes into a 3 hour standby mode, during which the smart cry detector is activated. The cry detector is designed for moments when the child suddenly wakes up. The baby's crying triggers the last selected pink noise for another 60 minutes, then the cycle repeats. So the child can return to a restful sleep.
What sounds does Moonie play?
The sounds of Moonie humming bear are non-computer generated, real recordings of natural pink noise - womb, wind, mountain stream, rain, sea waves. The heartbeat is a real recording of a hum heard inside mom’s belly, the sea waves are of the Baltic Sea and the forest stream is a recording from Tatra Mountains.
Moonie also has calming lullaby composed on a kalimba, especially curated for newborns. You can change the soothing sound just by pressing the Moonie's belly twice.
Why pink noise?
Babies, while still in their mother’s womb, are surrounded by low frequency sounds. That is why natural pink noise is safest for children and provide the ultimate comfort for your child.
With pink noise, the acoustic power of high frequencies decreases, thanks to which high-frequency sounds are at a safe level for babies, and for an adult they are almost inaudible.
Steady pink noise filters out the sounds from the surrounding and help babies gently fall asleep and calm down faster.
Also research suggests that playing pink noise in a baby's room during sleep may lead to longer periods of deep sleep and improved overall sleep quality, as well as potentially reducing the number of times a baby wakes up during the night.
Is Moonie bear/bunny safe for newborns?
By making the bears and bunnies from GOTS certified cotton the manufacturer ensures that their products are 100% safe for newborns, as the cotton comes from crops where no pesticides or toxic fertilisers have been used. Only non-toxic dyes are used. Each toy's filling comes from recycled materials.
All Moonie products are tested at SGS Switzerland Test Laboratory and comply with Directive 2009/48/EC, certifying that they are suitable for newborns.
How the night lamp works?
Each Moonie the humming friend is also a night lamp that can shine in 7 different colours.
Gentle light allows you to feed and change your baby without turning on the overhead light. When the baby starts crying, the lamp turns on with the hum, it illuminates and soothes the baby.
The led lamp does not heat up, it is completely safe. The lamp is also great for older children, who often are afraid of the dark. You can turn on the night lamp itself without sound and leave it on, for the whole night.
How do you clean a Moonie bear?
The toy can be washed by hand or in washing machine using "hand wash" cycle but only after removing the module!
And the last questions - which one do you like most - a bunny or a bear?
