Here are some common questions about the Moova baby carrier and their answers.
Can I put my baby in the Moova carrier by myself?
Yes, it is both easy and safe to put your child in the Moova baby carrier – without any help from others.
Moova is among the easiest harnesses on the market, thanks to the pre-set, crossed shoulder straps, magnetic closere and the adjustable panel that you can zip down when placing your child in the harness. Once you have adjusted the harness for you and baby, all you need to do is a single click of the magnetic buckle every time you put it on. It doesn’t get any easier.
This makes your everyday life much easier, because you often have to take the child in and out of the harness during the day – for example, when they need to sleep, want to sit up on their own, or need to get in the cargo bike or car.
How can I be sure that my child likes the Moova carrier?
When infants protest being in a baby carrier or sling, it is most often because they feel too confined and have too little freedom of movement.
With Moova's adjustable back panel, you can give your child exactly the right amount of support and freedom.
We have yet to hear of a baby who has not been comfortable in a correctly adjusted Moova baby carrier. If you are still in doubt – and have a child who has previously been uncomfortable in baby carriers or slings – we recommend that you try the carrier in a store.
Is the Moova carrier ergonomically correct for my baby?
Yes, the Moova baby carrier is ergonomic – both for your baby and for you. In the first month of life, you can choose to leave your child's feet inside the panel, so that they sit in the so-called frog position: with bent hips and limited spread of the legs. A position recommended by leading pediatric orthopedists.
You can also adjust the width of the panel so that it supports under the child's thighs and goes all the way from one knee to the other, while the lower legs are placed outside the panel.
This position places the baby in the optimal, so-called M-position, where the knees are slightly higher than the baby's bottom. This also applies to the hip and back position.
The Moova baby carrier is approved by The International Hip Dysplasia Institute as “hip healthy”
Can my child sleep in the baby carrier?
Yes, as long as you make sure to adjust the height of the back panel so that it adequately supports your baby's head.
How long at a time can I carry my baby?
As long as your baby is comfortable and can keep warm if you are outside, always pay close attention to your baby's signals and be careful not to hold your baby in the same position for too long at a time.
How does the zip in the back panel work?
The Moova baby carrier features a special zipper from the world’s largest quality manufacturer – a YKK auto-lock zipper, which locks the slider until the pull tab is intentionally pulled. The carrier has been tested and certified by an independent laboratory to withstand a large number of dynamic impacts with a 20 kg test dummy.
Can I be sure it’s safe if my baby sucks on the harness?
Yes, you can. The parts that your baby can come into contact with his mouth are all Oeko-Tex Standard 100 certified.
How long can I use the Moova baby carrier?
You can use the Moova baby carrier from newborn (3.5 kg) until your child weighs 15 kg.
What positions does the Moova carrier support?
You can carry your child on your stomach, on your hip and on your back, inward-facing position.
When can you use the hip position?
Most children start actively reaching out at around 3 months of age and are becoming more aware of their surroundings. And by 3 months, most children can hold their heads up. This is a great time to start moving your baby onto your hip while you are doing things around the house or out and about. It is very easy to switch from front to hip position and vice versa. Your baby will love following what you are doing.
When can you use the back position?
We recommend using the back carry position from around 11–12 months at the earliest. Under no circumstances should the back position be used before your child can sit upright unsupported and has full head control. The back position is mostly chosen when the child starts to feel too heavy in the front — this varies from parent to parent. Our user experience shows that the Moova carrier’s crossed and well-padded shoulder straps provide such good support that many parents continue using the front carry until their child is around two years old.
Can I carry my baby forward-facing in the Moova carrier?
We have deliberately chosen not to use the forward-facing position for several reasons. We fundamentally believe that the forward-facing position is the wrong solution to a real problem. The real problem for many babies in existing baby carrier designs is that they are too confined and do not have enough view of the world when they are in the inward-facing position. And this goes against many children's instincts and drive to experience the world around them. Our solution is to give your baby enough freedom of movement and view in the optimal inward-facing position. So far, no baby has objected to sitting in this position in the Moova baby carrier. At the same time, you support your baby's motor development to a much greater extent than in the misunderstood forward-facing position.
What parent body sizes does the Moova baby carrier fit?
The Moova baby carrier is adjustable and can therefore be used by parents who vary in size from XS to XXL.
Can the Moova carrier be machine washed?
Yes, wash at max. 30 degrees. Make sure all buckles are fastened and that excess band ends are rolled up and the elastic holders enclose them. Preferably use a laundry bag or alternatively a buttoned or zipped pillowcase. Hang to dry. Do not tumble dry.
